Theory of
Change

Project Jazba is the first incubation hub in Kashmir’s border villages, co-led, co-curated, and co-owned by community members, ensuring solutions are designed by those who understand the challenges firsthand. Unlike existing schemes that offer one-time aid or urban-focused programs, our model provides long-term, structured support—multi-stage capital infusion, market access, digital and financial inclusion, and policy advocacy—enabling local entrepreneurs to overcome systemic discrimination and structural barriers that have long excluded them from opportunities. By challenging exclusion and loss of agency, community members just not become entrepreneurs, but leaders reshaping their communities.

Our
Approach

At Project Jazba, we believe that the most transformative solutions come from those who have lived the problem. By empowering local changemakers through entrepreneurship and education, we aim to build proximate leadership in rural Kashmir. Our theory of change is simple yet profound: nurture community-driven models, remove systemic barriers, and provide the tools and support necessary for individuals to lead change within their communities. In doing so, we strive to elevate the social and economic standing of the region and reimagine Kashmir as a thriving, resilient, and self-sustaining society.

Why Kashmir?

Strategic Impact

We focus on villages along the Line of Actual Control (LOC) in North Kashmir and Aspirational Districts like Kupwara and Bandipora, while also engaging Aspirational Blocks like Keran to align with the government's development vision. These regions, marked by decades of isolation, offer immense potential for community-driven change, with institutional support ensuring scalable, measurable outcomes.

Stability & Economic Resilience

By empowering local youth through entrepreneurship, we create sustainable economic opportunities that promote self-reliance and resilience, reducing socio-economic isolation and dependency on seasonal or external employment.

Maintaining Peace

Entrepreneurship acts as a catalyst for stability, providing alternatives to aid dependency and preventing vulnerable youth from veering into adverse activities. By equipping individuals with livelihood opportunities, we foster a thriving, self-sufficient ecosystem.
