The Valley Sings Again

Music in Drangyari took two distinct paths—folk and contemporary—each shaping the community in its own way. Folk musicians played a crucial role in tourism, performing for visitors and keeping Kashmiri traditions alive. At the same time, the younger generation gravitated towards Bollywood and contemporary music, using it as a means to express themselves and reach global audiences. This parallel growth of traditional and modern music became a model of change, proving that while some sounds preserve heritage, others carve out new identities—both essential in defining the evolving culture of Kashmir.
