Curated Experiences and sightseeing

Sogam

Sogam, also called the “Fruit bowl of Kashmirs” claim to fame isn’t just its orchards—it’s the early bloom and late harvest cycle, thanks to a unique microclimate. This means visitors can often enjoy cherries in late May and apples until November. The village also features traditional Kashmiri fruit-drying kilns, and homestays offer orchard tours where you can pick your own fruit and taste walnut-based traditional recipes. It’s a living postcard of rural Kashmir at its most abundant.

Kalaroos Caves

Hidden in the rugged cliffs above Lashtiyal village, the Kalaroos Caves—locally called Qil-e-Roos or “Fort of the Russians”—have baffled explorers for centuries. Some believe they are part of an ancient tunnel network leading all the way to Russia. In fact, during the Soviet era, Russian geologists reportedly surveyed the area, intrigued by its structure. Though no tunnels have been proven, the prehistoric carvings on cave walls and unexplored chambers make it a surreal experience for history buffs and adventurers alike.

Chandigam

Set on the forested edge of Lolab, Chandigam is not just scenic—it’s where you can hike directly into dense pine and deodar forests, with trails leading to hilltops used by shepherds and nomads for generations. The village hosts weekly local haats (markets) where tribal artisans sell handmade woolens, dried herbs, and wild honey. Campers can pitch tents near forest watchtowers, and mountain bikers will love the rugged routes leading toward Darpora.

Satisar Lake

Satisar—meaning "Lake of Truth" in Sanskrit—is believed to be a remnant of the mythical lake that once submerged the entire Kashmir Valley, as mentioned in ancient Rajatarangini texts. Unlike hot springs, Satisar is a glacial-fed alpine lake, with waters so clear they reflect the sky like glass. A visit here is like stepping into a legend—ideal for spiritual seekers, writers, and those drawn to places where mythology meets geography.

Nagmarg Meadows

More than just a picturesque trekking route, Nagmarg Meadows lie on a key wildlife corridor connecting Lolab with Bandipora. This alpine stretch bursts into color during summer with rare Himalayan flowers and serves as grazing ground for nomadic Gujjar shepherds. Lucky trekkers might even spot a Himalayan black bear or musk deer. The meadows also offer uninterrupted views of the Shamshabari and Harmukh ranges, making it a botanist's and trekker's dream.
